hey guys just a quick one my airbag light is on permanantly. took it to the stealers they charged for courtesy car they then had it all day and phoned me at 5.30 to say they plugged it in and it told them its the battery isolator and thatll be 300 pound plus vat. Any ideas who could fix it but a little bit cheaper:thumbsup:

Bloody stealers ! just to re-set it ?. was watching a programme and the unit they use to plug in for ECU diagnostics can be picked up for £90 and can re-set service count down etc ? might be worth a look ?

On a note, if it IS the air bag light there was a re-call as its the wiring harness , i had this done for FREE as its a know issue/re-call ;)

The dreaded airbag light, very common fault due to doggy wiring loams, BMW charge £50 to reset, there :pirate: so dont use them !
I have just had mine reset today by my frendly Turk garage, he pluged his unit in and it told him on the display 'seat belt tension fault', we could not resolve the fault but the light is now off and it cost me £0.00 !!! result !
Anyway you can do it yourself for £40, google B200 reset tool, there available on ebay to name one, you plug it in and press the button and hey presto light out, wont resolve the problem but will tell you what the problem is and turn the flipping light out !

The light comes on on pre facelift models because it is a fault and the wiring harness needs replacing so this could be dangerous and if its not fixed the air bag may not deploy... its a known fault and re-call letters were sent , i had it done on my 02 S, dont ignore it :)

Agree, best to get it sorted, only down side is i had a quote from BMW on thursday £400 + VAT, they wont do mine under any warentee either, so down to me, only plus side for me is mine is seat belt pre tension, BMW tells me its not an issue, airbags will still go off, lucky its only that.
Yes it is well documented and BMW should do it as a matter of safety but BMW is BMW and they do nothing for free if they can get away with it, i even told them that i had been in touch with VOSH and that thay advised it was a safety issue, still BMW did not want to know.

Try MINI customer cares if VOSA has said its a safety issue then IMO the manufacturer had an obligation to correct the fault FOC even out of waranty.
A manufacturer i worked for once recalled a batch of 5 year old cars for a brake issue :worthy:
