Dropping this here as not to sure where to drop it !

Anyway i bought the clear high level light to go with the rest of the clear lights on the back, anyway tried to fit it and, no chance, the rear spoiler is in the way to get the old one out !
Anyway i had a look on line and could find nothing regarding removing the old light, i then looked in the Haines manual where it tells you you have to remove the spoiler, well undone the two bolts and gave it a push and a pull and a harder push and pull and no way is it coming off, to make it worst i had a chat with a guy at BMW who says it is stuck down, what plonka thought up that idea !, what a tosser ! LOL
So what do you do ? theres no way you will get it off without causing some form of damage either to the car or spoiler, even more so how would you get it of.
Well after thinking for some hours and having a few quid in the bank and the fact i had seen a JCW carbon spoiler going cheep !! i decided to go the whole hog, bought myself the JCW and am going to have a go at it over the weekend if weather holds out, i dont care if i muller the original one, if it comes off in one piece then even better, that will go on flebay ! but i need to get it off, well thinking long and hard i think i may have the solution, sould be easy if it works, you cant just rip it off as it will prob pull of the paint but if i get some heavy fishing line and start at one end i should be able to pull the line under the spoiler and away from the car, just then remains to remove the resadue glue !!, if it works ill let you know :teehee:

Then need to find someone to fit the new one, any suggestions ?????? cost ££££ ????

I hate it when you start doing something only for problems to materialise as you go along...

I would ask John at Modnmini to see how he gets them off - he is doing my spoiler soon as I too am getting a JCW one fitted so would be able to point you in the way of how to get it off... :)

As you have discovered the standard spoilers are bolts and glue - the JCW spoiler is just glue!!!!! :)

fishing line = bad times. more likely to scuff the paint. the spoilers are held on with the same sort of sticky foam which is on the back of the badges... just alot more of it!

the way ive seen it done most times...

undo the bolts on the inside of the tailgate (hidden by rubber grommets)
push up on the spoiler and eventually (believe it or not) it does come off.
then all you have to do after you've recovered from your hernia is to remove the excess double sided foam from the tailgate.

heres a tip... warm it up with a hair drier a bit beforehand as this will soften the adhesive. oh, and two people pushing is obviously better than one!

hope it goes well
