Still luvin it and still nuffin wrong .....so far.............
Has been 4 whole months since gettin my baby and no faults is a bit of a record so far! ive had 9 cars in 4 years and out of all of em the only reliable ones were an old £200 peugeot309 (wicked car) and my beloved Mk2 Golf 16v GTi.
The rest of em have all been new or a year old...............says alot for modern cars eh

I currently have a brand new ONE whilst my 2004 JCW S is being fixed. Think I prefer the older car in terms of interior styling but the one thing that I love about the new car is the "mood" lighting...

A bit of a gimmick but I think it is great - shame you cant controll the intensity of the mood lighting and the dash lighting seperately...

Brakes are good too. Good enough to make me think I need to update my brakes...

Just need to try the S to give it a more accurate comparison...

The brakes on the new S are the same as as the works ones on the R53....they're wicked!

Im STILL luvin my Baby.........even after 7 months...............

Its been excellent so far............had the odd noise/issue which the dealer 'Cooper Chelmsford' have fixed straight away succesfully......(deal with Phill masek or Nikki Fielding) top honours for customer service..........

So after reading all the *****ing on MINI2 slaughtering this particular car it makes me feel satisfied that at least its reliable!!!and I luv it............it wasnt my choice to have it and i miss my Green S terribly(its being traded back into the garage after only 6 months!!!!!!!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmm wonder why?????) But im happy with my R56 now and its the future............

Cant wait for the convertible to come out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Den has a large smile on his face) :HushYourGums:  :Tounge: :Gasp:

Well I have done a few 1000 miles in mine so far, it's a lot better than my old MINI one, smoother engine etc.

I still like the mood lighting, on blue, it creates a moon-like glow when driving at night, and helps to see things in the cabin without ruining night vision.

even if it is a bit chavvy

I have mine set to blue too its surprising how much lighter it is at night in the car eh mate

Loving my clubman s,we fight for the key, can,t compare to the 53, but love it, still running in so haven't exploited the power, or sport button, mood lighting is cool, nice to have a blue night or an orange night.

Yo cooperboy give it some stick it uses fully synth oil and you will glaze tthe bores if run to slowly but dont hold high revs if bores are glazed you will loose compression and burn oil, running in was used when engines had to bed in and get rid of high spots within the engine

Keano

you will loose compression and burn oil

Is burning oil a common indicator of poor compression?

Brian
24th March 2009, 09:15 PM
poor comp is not necessary down to oil burning Dave but when bores are glazed piston rings cannot bed in so oil consumption will be raised, in older engines oil burning can be worn piston rings or worn valve guides / worn valve seal this will give you blue smoke on pulling away and when bad smoke on lite throttle there are other factors but this is the most common if i am wrong someone please correct me back to glazed bores have you ever got into a late motor and thought to yourself god this has no go in it then got into another one and wow this is prob due to how it was "run in" hope i haven't bored lol you

Cant speak directly for MINI's but in work we have ignored running in instructions so that we can "loosen" up demo cars quicker than usual by doing some "spirited" driving :shades:

I did read some where just cant remember where that the mini N14 engine is the worlds most hybred piece of enginering at this present moment in time but then improvements are going on all the time like they forgot to put nonreturn valve in timing chain adjuster opps just think in a few more years 800/1000bhp outter 1600cc quad turbo super charged all run on super compressed chicken sh#t, say wat :clapping:
